Rug up and join us for a relaxed winter stroll along the High Country Rail Trail to explore a picturesque part of the Kiewa River floodplain, its features and habitats.
We’ll be listening for the call of the endangered Sloane’s froglet, a tiny frog that’s not often seen – instead we rely on their winter calls to help us monitor where in Wodonga they are living.
We’ll also introduce you to the FrogID app, an accessible way to help record and identify any frogs you hear and contribute to frog research at the same time. No expertise required, just your phone and your ears.
Along the way we’ll chat about the many roles Wodonga’s waterways and wetlands have — and how winter rain and flooding here are both a vital part of that story and a challenge we work with, not against.
Wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes, and bring your sense of curiosity — we’ll provide the frog facts!
