Saving Local Turtles

Mon 23 Oct, 2023 | 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Did you know that common turtle species have declined 90% over the past 40 years?

Learn how to help save local turtles before their Nov-Dec turtle nesting season. Hear about turtles’ threats and how you can protect them, including the 1 Million Turtles program and TurtleSAT citizen science mapping tool.

Dr James Van Dyke is a Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University and winner of the 2023 Eureka Prize for Innovation in Citizen Science.

Event will commence 5.30pm sharp (with drinks available at bar prices from 5.00pm) at The Venue on McFarland (formerly the German-Austrian Club), 5 McFarland Rd, Wodonga.

Presentation will run for approximately 45 mins, followed by optional site visit to Belvoir Lake to view turtle signage and potential nesting sites. Belvoir Lake meeting point is Reuss Rd, next to the Belvoir Park Dog Park (approximately 10 minutes drive from The Venue).
