This ride will start from the BBQ/Picnic Area overlooking the river at Porepunkah and across the way from the Porepunkah Pub. If you arrive early, you can grab a coffee from the Rail Trail Cafe.
We’ll follow the rail trail through Bright to link up with the ‘Great Valley Trail’ to finish at Harrietville where we’ll have lunch beside the river. There are cafes and the pub nearby to grab a bite to eat or bring your own lunch.
There is an elevation gain of 124m between Germantown and Harrietville and it’s about 200m elevation gain in total between Bright and Harrietville which means it’s all downhill on the way back. We might pop into the Punkah Pub for a coldie when we get back.
The trail is suitable for hybrids and road bikes. Make sure your tyres are pumped and you have a spare tube.
