Huon Creek is a significant waterway traversing agricultural and urban areas in the Wodonga municipality. The creek and surrounding hills have historically been impacted land clearing and now face increasing pressure from residential development and climate change which has altered natural flow patterns and elevated runoff. These pressures mean erosion, water quality, increased sediment loads and weeds threaten the ecological integrity of the riparian corridor and surrounding hills.
Recent planting events have peaked community interest in Landcare in the Huon Creek area both in the newer urban areas and rural areas.
Join Wodonga Council staff and Wodonga Urban Landcare for a presentation on the important ecological values of the Huon Creek area, learn more about the WREN (Wodonga Retained Environment Network) and how you can get involved in protecting and maintaining your local environment including planting, weeding, nest box installation through Landcare.
