Border Bushwalking Club – Morgan’s Caves, Galore Hill Scenic Reserve

Sat 4 Jul, 2026 | 7:30 am - 5:00 pm

Galore Hill Scenic Reserve (near Lockhart) covers approx 500 hectares of bushland and provides a thriving natural habitat for native flora (over 800 varieties of plants) and fauna. ( over 140 varieties of birds). The reserve rises 200m above the surrounding plains and from the summit gives an uninterrupted view of Kengal/The Rock to the east. On our walk we will follow the fire trail to the saddle. From there a walking track will take us past the lookout tower to the shallow caves that bushranger, “Mad Dog Morgan”, used to avoid authorities. We then return to the cars via the Summit Drive. We should have time on the way back to Albury to stop off at Morgans lookout, another one of Morgans hideouts.
