DESCRIPTION:Please come and join us for our regular monthly walk\, this time to Sandy Creek\, Victoria. \nDate:                            Sunday 7th September\nLocation:                    Sandy Creek Reservoir \nMeet:                            corner of Lockharts Gap Road and Sandy Creek Road.\nTime:                           9am\nOuting duration:    9am – 2.30pm\nLeader:                       Bernie Datson\n\nProgram\nPart 1\n\n\n\nArrive at Sandy Creek Reservoir about 9.15am and have optional morning tea on Lake’s edge.\nExamine nests of the Fairy Martins.\nReturn walk will be about 1 km and be completed within 2hrs.\n\n\nGood chance of seeing less common ducks and grebes and a good variety of honeyeaters including Eastern Spinebill and White-naped Honeyeater. (Platypuses too!)\n\nPart 2\nWe will drive to an and Je’s place at Allans Flat  about 11.30 ish and pause at their gate area for possible views of the Golden-headed Cisticola.\nWe will have lunch on their verandah about noon followed by a walk through nearby birding areas  for about  an hour and a half.\n A diverse group of birds will be encountered and will possibly include Speckled Warbler\, Diamond Dove and Quail.\n\nEveryone is welcome. \nRemember to bring\n\n\nsuitable footwear\nbinoculars\nwater\nappropriate clothing and headwear for the weather\na chair\nmorning tea\nlunch\n\n\nNB: There is no obligation to stay for the duration of the event. Central Reserve Rd runs off Gerogery Rd at the northern end of Ettamogah Rise housing estate.  Veer left onto gravel at the quarry entrance\, proceed over the cattle grid past the cattle yards and continue for over a kilometre to the house where you’ll be able to park. \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Date:  Sunday 7th July \nLocation:  Livingstone National Park\, NSW \nTime:  9.30am to 3pm (approx) \nMeet:  9:30am at the carpark at the northern end of the park\, via Wrigleys Rd\, off of O’Briens Creek \nRd: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rc4zxqKvZNdieTHr6 \nLeaders: Darcy Creece (Sthn NSW Birds on Farms on behalf of Birdlife Ovens and Murray) and Sarah Danckert (Murrumbidgee Field Nats) \nDetails \n\nIt’s about a 1hr 15min drive to the meeting point from central Albury. The best route is to turn off the Olympic Hwy at Gerogery\, and travel via Morven\, Cookardinia and Mangoplah.\n\n\nThe carpark at Livingston NP is accessible via 2WD\, but we plan to head further into the park\, which will require a 4WD\, so it is encouraged to bring one\, and we will try to organise carpooling on the day for those who only have a 2WD.\n\n\nThe national park is hilly\, so expect uneven terrain\, but nothing too steep for the parts we’ll be doing on foot.\n\nPlease note: there are no amenities at the park. \nHighlights \n\nwoodland birds such as robins\, speckled warbler\, white-browed babblers\, and details of the local vegetation courtesy of the field nats.\n\nBring  \n\nbinoculars\nnotebook and pen/app  if you wish to record birds and/or plants\ngood walking shoes or boots\nsuitable clothing for the weather conditions\nhat/beanie\nmorning tea\nlunch\nchair\nwater\n\nYou may also like to check out the Livingstone National Park webpage which provides more information about the park \nhttps://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/visit-a-park/parks/livingstone-national-park/visitor-info

DESCRIPTION:Welcome Winter with our June outing  to the Mt Granya area led by expert birder\, John Shepherd.  Please meet at the Bellbridge toilet block for a 9am start (parking is available).  Note that there is some gravel road driving during the day so people with sedans may wish to share a ride with a 4WD owner. \nProgram\nPre-lunch (morning tea sometime during this period) \n\nStart at Granya campground and walk up to the Scout Hut area.\nDrive up the Tallangatta Road to a gully and the end of Firebrace track – a short but steep walk up this gully along the track.\nDrive to the watershed on this road to bird and have lunch\, plenty of parking on the gravel.\n\nPost-lunch \n\nDrive the steep track out to Mount Granya summit\, birding around the lookout and the communication towers.\nFinish around mid-afternoon.\n\nBring \n\nbinoculars\nboots or strong shoes\nhat/beanie\na chair(s) and\nmorning tea\nlunch\nwater\n\n
