DESCRIPTION:It’s time for Corowa’s annual Sloane’s Champions Spotlight Night! \nFocused on the threatened Sloane’s Froglet (Crinia sloanei) and its conservation in our region\, join Corowa District Landcare and NSW Department of Climate Change\, Energy\, the Environment and Water’s Dave Hunter (Senior Threatened Species Officer) for this informative evening and spotlight walk around the Whitehead Street Wetland. \nAs well as the main event\, we’re excited to announce a special add-on session inviting tertiary students (NRM\, ecology\, environmental science/management)\, early-career practitioners and frog enthusiasts to join NSW DCCEEW for their annual frog survey around Corowa. \nRegister for one or both sessions. \nSession 1 – Community Session (6:00pm to 8:30pm) \nA relaxed\, family-friendly session. Begin your evening with a light dinner and learn about the Sloane’s Froglet and other local frog species. Be introduced to the Sloane’s Champions citizen science project and learn how to use the FrogID app to record frog calls.The session concludes with a guided spotlight walk around the Whitehead Street Wetland to look for frogs. \nSession 2 – Frog Monitoring with NSW DCCEEW (9:00pm to midnight/1:00am) \nAn optional\, small-group field session limited to 15 people for those wanting an in-depth\, in the field experience. Join NSW DCCEEW ecologists to visit local wetland sites and gain hands-on experience in frog survey techniques\, habitat assessment\, and water quality monitoring.
