SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Beginners' Overnighter
DESCRIPTION:This is the perfect walk for those who have not yet experienced a night camping on the High Plains. The walk is an easy 6kms out to the yards\, all on track and is eminently suitable for FIRST TIME overnighters. (Experienced overnighters are also most welcome to come along and join in the fun and frivolity!) \nThe walk follows the Australian Alps Walking Track from Cope Hut\, passes Mount Cope and the recently refurbished Cope Saddle Hut. The track then follows a maintenance track beside the viaduct to the huts. DESCRIPTION:Birds of Albury\n\nEnter our community-based photography exhibition on Albury’s local birdlife. \nEntries: Due by Monday 25 March 2024 \nAlbury is a haven for a rich variety of Australian native birds much loved and admired by our community. In conjunction with the Birds of Australia Storybox exhibition the LibraryMuseum is celebrating our local birdlife with a community-based exhibition that features your photography of local birds. The exhibition is taking submissions from residents within a 50km radius of Albury. \nVisitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their choice of winning entry. \nAll participants are invited to the launch event on Saturday 13 April\, where prizes will be awarded in following categories: best photo taken by entrant under 18\, best overall photo\, best photo of a threatened species and best “in motion” action shot. We are also very grateful for the support of Gardens for Wildlife Albury Wodonga who have sponsored a special prize category “Best photograph taken in a residential garden”\, the winner of this category will receive a $50 Peard’s Wodonga voucher. BirdLife Australia are also proud to sponsor a prize for “best photo of a bird on a farm within 100km of Albury”\, the winner of this category will receive a $100 gift voucher from Our Native Garden Nursery and receive a ‘Birds on Farms – Bird Nerd Resource Pack’\, full of helpful bird identification information. \nThe launch event will also include a presentation from BirdLife Australia who will share with us their birds on farms work and how this is contributing to the protection of local species. DESCRIPTION:Birds of Albury\n\nEnter our community-based photography exhibition on Albury’s local birdlife. \nEntries: Due by Monday 25 March 2024 \nAlbury is a haven for a rich variety of Australian native birds much loved and admired by our community. In conjunction with the Birds of Australia Storybox exhibition the LibraryMuseum is celebrating our local birdlife with a community-based exhibition that features your photography of local birds. The exhibition is taking submissions from residents within a 50km radius of Albury. \nVisitors to the exhibition will be able to vote for their choice of winning entry. \nAll participants are invited to the launch event on Saturday 13 April\, where prizes will be awarded in following categories: best photo taken by entrant under 18\, best overall photo\, best photo of a threatened species and best “in motion” action shot. We are also very grateful for the support of Gardens for Wildlife Albury Wodonga who have sponsored a special prize category “Best photograph taken in a residential garden”\, the winner of this category will receive a $50 Peard’s Wodonga voucher. BirdLife Australia are also proud to sponsor a prize for “best photo of a bird on a farm within 100km of Albury”\, the winner of this category will receive a $100 gift voucher from Our Native Garden Nursery and receive a ‘Birds on Farms – Bird Nerd Resource Pack’\, full of helpful bird identification information. \nThe launch event will also include a presentation from BirdLife Australia who will share with us their birds on farms work and how this is contributing to the protection of local species. Audience members will also get the opportunity to learn about how they can also get involved in Birdlife Australia projects. \nTo have your photograph included in the exhibition: \n\nPhotograph must feature wild Australian native birds within their habitat in the Albury region.\nThe photograph must be your original work.\nAccompanied by the name of the bird\, location photograph was taken and name of photographer.\nThe image should be printed on A4 sized photograph grade paper and submitted with completed entry form to the LibraryMuseum.\nMaximum of 3 entries per person\n\nExhibition: Saturday 13 April – Saturday 1 June 2024\, Community Exhibition Wall\, LibraryMuseum \nExhibition Launch: Saturday 13 April 10.30am\, all entrants invited. \nDetails and to download the entry form: alburycity.nsw.gov.au/whats-on/museum/birds-of-albury

SUMMARY:Padman Park Volunteer Morning
DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands Rangers undertaking a variety of practical park stewardship tasks in this beautiful reserve. \nThis is an opportunity to work alongside our Rangers experiencing the ‘how to’ of caring for our local bush. Tasks will vary month to month and according to the season and your capacity. You may be doing a flora survey\, removing redundant fences\, replacing barbed wire with wildlife friendly plain wire\, weeding\, checking nestboxes\, removing tree guards and more. No experience necessary. \nTake in the fresh air\, get close to nature and learn about the local environment and how Albury City and community groups are working to protect threatened species\, improve habitat and link habitat corridors across the region. \nWhen: 9.00 to 11.00am (2 hrs) \nWhere: Meet at Day Street Carpark. \nWhat is supplied: All tools and any specific safety equipment needed. \nWhat to bring: BYO drinking water. For your safety\, please wear covered shoes (preferably boots)\, long pants\, long sleeves and a hat. \nPlease register! Sometimes things change at the last minute and we need to be able to contact volunteers.
