The Street Harvest Project grew out of a passion for transforming the local food system into one that is sustainable and strong.

DESCRIPTION:We will meet at Ludlow’s Reserve on the Murray Valley Highway and cycle the rail trail to Tallangatta\, crossing the Sandy Creek Bridge on the way. This is a very scenic ride with Lake Hume on our left shoulder heading out and right shoulder heading back. The trail is a mixture of hard packed gravel and sealed asphalt. We will have lunch in Tallangatta at a local cafe or the bakery before a short ride around the lake foreshore and then head back to the start point. The Street Harvest Project grew out of a passion for transforming the local food system into one that is sustainable and strong.

We’ll follow the rail trail through Bright and link up with the Great Valley Trail to finish at Harrietville where we’ll have lunch beside the river. There are a couple of food vans and cafes where you can buy coffees/lunch or bring your own. There is an elevation gain of 124m between Germantown and Harrietville and it’s about 200m elevation gain between Bright and Harrietville which means it’s downhill all the way back! The trail is fully sealed and suitable for all types of bikes. DESCRIPTION:The Street Harvest project is being reinvigorated – Please consider growing an extra row of produce in your garden to support this project and Uniting in Wodonga. \nAll produce can be dropped off at Uniting (1 Nilmar Avenue\, Wodonga between. 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday to Friday). \nThe project builds and encourages community capacity and improves food security for Wodonga residents by distributing excess fruit and vegetables\, harvested from residential gardens\, to local residents and emergency food relief agencies. \n‘Street Harvest’ was a pilot project developed in Wodonga in 2010. The Street Harvest Project grew out of a passion for transforming the local food system into one that is sustainable and strong.
