SUMMARY:Trees\, Climate Resilience and Urban Landscapes presentation
DESCRIPTION:Join WULN and Dr Greg Moore for an evening learning about the importance of trees for climate resilience in our urban areas. Dr Moore is an icon of the plant science world and is known for his captivating presentations backed by science. \nAs we look towards a shifting climate and increasing temperatures\, our urban areas are going to feel the significant impacts of more severe weather events. Trees and greenspaces play a critical role in making our cities more liveable and this will become even more evident in the future with climate change. Trees not only provide services such as storing carbon and air filtration\, but they play a crucial role in cooling surface temperatures and positively impact our mental health. \nPlease arrive for refreshments on arrival at 5:30pm\, followed by the presentation at 6pm. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to hear about the importance of trees in our area\, and what we can do to contribute to change going forward. \nFree\, please register. \nThis project is proudly supported by BUPA and Landcare Australia. WULN thanks Wodonga TAFE for their generosity in hosting this event. \nDr Moore was Principal of Burnley College of the Institute of Land Food Resources at Melbourne University from 1988 to 2007 and a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in Plant Science and Arboriculture from 1979. On top of this\, he has been a part of the National Trust of Victoria’s Register of Significant Trees since 1988\, on the Board of Greening Australia (Victoria) since 1989\, has chaired Treenet since 2005 and has been on the Board of Sustainable Gardening Australia since 2002. Just to name a few!
