SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club -BOGONG SUMMIT VIA ESKDALE SPUR 9km RETURN
DESCRIPTION:The hike to the summit of Mount Bogong is amongst Victoria’s most challenging and rewarding. It is planned to reach the summit via the Eskdale Spur Track with an elevation gain of 1487 metres over a relatively short distance\, so you must have a high level of fitness and experience and be comfortable with heights . This walk will start from the beginning of the Eskdale Spur Track and take us past Michell Hut where we will take a break before tackling the steep\, exposed section to the summit. The weather can be variable at this altitude and thunderstorms and snow showers are possible even at this time of the year. PLEASE NOTE: For this walk to go ahead 4WD vehicles are necessary to get hikers from the Mountain Creek campground to the trailhead\, so I’m hoping someone with such a vehicle will book in! \n\nGrade  4-5 Medium Hard\nLeader: Ian Trevaskis\nPhone: 0425782983\nParticipant numbers: 10\nFinal booking date: 5/1/26\nDistance: 9 km total\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Ryders Yard\, Beginners Overnight Hike
DESCRIPTION:This is the perfect walk for those who have yet to experience a night out on the High Plains. The walk is an EASY 6kms to the huts\, all on track and eminently suitable for FIRST TIME overnighters. (Experienced overnighters are more than welcome to join us!) The walk follows the Australian Alps Walking Track from Cope Hut\, passes Cope Saddle Hut and then proceeds along a flat maintenance track beside a viaduct. All up\, it takes about 2 hours of cruisy walking to reach Ryder’s Yards where there are plenty of flat\, grassy spots to pitch tents\, an ample supply of water nearby and a very comfy hut where we can cook meals and socialise. After setting up camp we’ll hike down to the ‘secret’ waterfall and swimming hole where we can cool off\, so bring your bathers (or not!) If you think you may not be properly equipped\, remember you can hire gear from Adventure Gear\, Albury or we can rustle up whatever you might need from other members. I hope as many first timers as possible will take this opportunity to join me for this little adventure. \n\nGrade  2 easy medium\nLeader: Ian Trevaskis\nPhone: 0425782983\nParticipant numbers: 10\nFinal booking date: 17/11\nDistance: 12 km total\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au
