SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Mount Buffalo Chalet to Mackeys Lookout
DESCRIPTION:The plan is to park at the Chalet carpark and commence the walk from there. We will follow the Big Walk Walking track from the Mount Buffalo Chalet down to Mackey’s lookout for lunch. Our descent from the Mount Buffalo Chalet at 1342 elevation to Mackeys Lookout at 920 m elevation will take in some of the best bits of the Big Walk. \nAlong the way\, we can take time to visit the Reeds lookout. This walk is approximately 10 kms return. \nOn our return a look around the Chalet and the Gorge lookout is worthwhile. Bring a cuppa and  snacks  to enjoy outside\, plus don’t forget extra warm clothing to wear after the walk. \nPart of the walk (especially after Mackey’s Lookout) is across sloping granite. Good boots are required to prevent slipping. Some of the lookouts have huge drops\, but they are fenced. DESCRIPTION:This is a slow ramble on Nail Can Hill\, Albury. It gives plenty of opportunity for admiring the range of wildflowers on the hill\, taking photos and catching your breath. Whilst we will be going up and down the hill twice there will be absolutely no rush. It’s at the lower end of grade 3. \nIt will start late morning and include a lunch break. \nThe distance will probably be about 14kms but this will be determined closer to the date when the best spots to visit will be assessed. \nIt will be mostly on  fire trails although there may be one short rocky section ( no scrambling). \nIf you haven’t been in Nail Can in Spring now is the time.
