DESCRIPTION:We will do a semi circular walk and see the adjacent woodland at the paddock edge. There is a gentle climb up to some granite outcrops.  The Gorton farm owners will meet us at this site and take us into the rear paddocks area through a locked gate. SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club  Tramway Walk
DESCRIPTION:Starting at  Clover Dam\, we start with a river crossing then walk uphill on a 4WD track for about 3kms. If the river is too high to cross \, as happened last year\, we will walk to the end of the track and half way along the Tramway before returning the same way. \nHopefully the river can be crossed\, and we will head uphill for about an hour \, before reaching the Tramway. After morning tea we walk  along the Tramway\, which is flat\, running alongside the water race . There is often interesting bits and pieces of old equipment along here\, and also several small creeks feeding into the aqueduct . \nThere are two trestle bridges that will require us to scramble down and up the other side. Where the Tramway finishes we walk on a 4WD track back to the Bogong High Plains road. It is about 1.3kms back to the cars along this road \,but we will stop at the Clover Arboretum to view the village remnants and plants. \nThis is not a long walk \, total 11kms\, and it is mostly easy\, but it does have a few ups and downs and short scrambles. \nThis is a good walk for new members who are uncertain of their fitness\, as there is only a few hills\, and we have plenty of time. \nPlease do not phone before Monday 1st August to book in. \n\n\n\nGrade 2 Easy-Medium\nLeader: Pauline Scott\nPhone: 02 60271834\nParticipant numbers:\nFinal booking date: 03/08/22\nKey risks and hazards: River crossing. SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club -The Big Walk in winter
DESCRIPTION:Forward planning – date may change a week or two one way or the other as we get closer. \nThe objective of this walk is to walk up into a light dusting of snow up the top of Buffalo – I think the chalet looks magical with a light dusting on it. We timed this right between lock-downs in 2020 and it was one of my favourite hikes for the year. Hopefully we’ll get the timing right again this year. \nThe walk starts at the carpark at the Park entry\, and climbs steadily to the Gorge\, is approx. 22km return and all on well-formed walking tracks. \nRisks: even if we don’t have snow\, there is likely to be patches of ice on the track higher up (I’ve previously found some and landed heavily on my back). \nThe track is likely to be very slippery on the mud and tree bark (especially the first/last 3km). \nBring a thermos and plenty of winter gear. \nNote that this is grade 4 medium-hard as the likely cold/wet/slippery/icy conditions add difficulty to what is already quite a big walk. \n\nLeader: David G\nPhone: 0432 632 142 after 7pm the Monday-Wednesday leading up to the walk please.\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands Rangers for a short\, sharp working bee on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month\, delivering long awaited trail realignments\, bush restoration and park infrastructure improvements in McFarlanes Hill Regional Park. \n\nWhen: Friday mornings 9.30-10.30 am\, followed by morning tea\nWhere: We will meet at the Hunchback Hill Mountain bike track parking area\, off Felltimber Creek Road.\nWhat: Activities will cover a range of tasks including removal of redundant fences\, planting climate adapted seedlings\, weeding\, installing wayfinding signs\, removing barbed wire from all but the boundary fences\, improving drainage along the Granite walking trail\, rehabilitating closed trails and removing redundant boardwalks.\nWhat is provided: All tools\, materials and personal protective equipment is provided as is Ranger induction and session leadership.\nWhat to bring: Participants must wear covered shoes (boots) and long pants at all sessions\, preferably long sleeves as well\, and bring your own hat and water bottle. DESCRIPTION:This is a loop walk starting from the Tawonga Gap Lookout. After a brief car shuffle\, we head north along the ridge track through forest before turning onto the German Creek track which takes us back to the main Tawonga Gap road\, with a very small creek crossing near the end. The walk is all on tracks but with several steep ups and downs (walking poles recommended). We should get good views across to snow-covered peaks. total distance is about 13 km.
