The Tallangatta Rotary Club\, with assistance from Tallangatta Rail Trail Advisory Group\, have the answer for you! They’ll take you on a marvellous day of easy riding and exploration of the upper reaches of the High Country Rail Trail.  Sadly this will include riding past the remains of eight former trestle bridges that burnt in the January 2026 bushfires. \nCost is $120 per person. \nMeet at Shelley Station at 10am\, NOT Tallangatta as in previous years. \nThis includes morning tea at Koetong Station\, BBQ lunch along the trail\, and afternoon tea at the Tallangatta Goods Shed at the end of the ride plus bus transfer to Shelley Station for drivers. \nBookings are essential! You’ll hear directly from Cassina Environmental\, project partners & local contractors and see the revegetation efforts firsthand. \nWhat is BushBank? \nThe Victorian Government’s $77 million BushBank Program is restoring more than 20\,000 hectares of land across Victoria to create healthy wildlife habitat and capture carbon. The majority of work is taking place on private land through partnerships with private landowners. \nIt’s the most ambitious environmental restoration program in Victoria’s history. \nAbout the project \nThis Wooragee property\, just out of Beechworth\, has been a labour of love for the landowners for over a decade. Since 2011\, they’ve been revegetating the site and reducing grazing to make their land more hospitable to species like the critically endangered Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater. In 2025\, they applied for the BushBank program to give a boost to their efforts to restore the 59 hectare block. \nThis year\, the site underwent large-scale direct seeding and supplementary planting\, delivered in partnership with Cassinia and co-funded by Greenfleet. DESCRIPTION:Join Wodonga Urban Landcare Network (WULN)\, North East Catchment Management Authority and Water Technology on World Rivers Day for a hands-on field event exploring the historical and emerging impacts on Huon Creek and outline the recently developed restoration plan for the site which is part of a vital rural/urban waterway corridor within Wodonga’s Retained Environment Network (WREN). \nHear from Jamie Kaye\, Senior Principal Scientist at Water Technology\, as he shares insights into hydrology\, erosion processes\, and best-practice riparian restoration along this significant creekline. Huon Creek supports Creekline Grassy Woodland\, a threatened vegetation community and faces mounting pressure from erosion\, sediment loads\, weed encroachment\, and residential development. \nThis event is part of the Healing Huon Creek project\, delivered by WULN in partnership with North East Catchment Management Authority (NECMA) and Wodonga Council\, continuing the implementation of the Wodonga Regional Waterway Action Plan. \nCome along to learn about the science behind waterway health\, the restoration plan for this site\, and explore how you can get involved in protecting this important wildlife corridor. \nWhere: Huon Creek Road\, Wodonga.
