DESCRIPTION:Join us for Wodonga Urban Landcare Network’s Annual General Meeting and Network Gathering at our Baranduda Fields EcoHub. \nThis is an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s achievements\, hear about exciting projects and plans for the year ahead\, and connect with the people helping to care for and improve our local environment. \nWe will also be welcoming Albury City Council’s Leah Warburton – Urban Forest Officer and Leanne Hunichen – Supervisor Trees and Streetscapes to present on the newly adopted Urban Forest Strategy which charts a greener future for Albury. The strategy outlines the current challenges with regard to canopy cover in Albury and provides a guide to tree planting and detailed implementation plan as the city responds to climate change and ongoing urban growth\, setting a target for 30% urban tree canopy cover in Albury by 2050. \nAll WULN members\, supporters\, partner organisations and friends are welcome to attend\, as well as members of the community – you don’t need to be a WULN member. \nGroup coordinators will be asked to vote in the special meeting and AGM and should nominate a proxy if they are unable to attend. \nFollowing the AGM\, stay for a relaxed network gathering with plenty of time to catch up\, share ideas\, and connect with others who are passionate about creating a healthier\, more sustainable community. \nA light lunch will be provided. SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Ludlows to Tallangatta bike ride
DESCRIPTION:We will meet at Ludlow’s Reserve on the Murray Valley Highway and cycle the Rail Trail to Tallangatta\, crossing the Sandy Creek Bridge on the way. This is a very scenic ride with Lake Hume on our left shoulder heading out and right shoulder coming back. The rail trail is a mixture of hard packed gravel and sealed asphalt with a few undulations. We will have lunch in Tallangatta at a local cafe or the bakery before a short ride around the foreshore and then head back to the start point. The Street Harvest Project grew out of a passion for transforming the local food system into one that is sustainable and strong.

A waitlist is in place and those who have joined it will be notified if a space becomes available. \nWe’re visiting a special urban reserve to admire the spring wildflowers and the pollinator insects that visit them. \nJack Perry Reserve is an unassuming pocket of bushland\, right alongside housing and industrial development of White Box Rise. It is home to an impressive diversity of local native plants. Spring is an exciting time here\, with plants in flower and a busy cast of visitors\, including bees\, butterflies and other pollinators. We’ll chat about local native plants\, and how they interact with their many visitors. \nIf you would like to know more about local wildflowers\, or local insects\, this is a walk for you! \nThe reserve is environmental land within the Whitebox Rise Estate and links to nearby Bears Hill\, part of the Wodonga Retained Environment Network — land managed for people\, wildlife and the environment. SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - The Big Walk

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever had that magical moment of spotting a platypus in the wild? \nJoin us at this event to learn where to look for\, and how spot\, platypus in the wild for this great #CitizenScience project\, a partnership with ACF\, UNSW\, Centre for Ecosystem Science\, and Platypus Conservation Initiative. \nACF-AWR is excited to be hosting events again in 2026 for the wonderful citizen science platy-project. \nJoin us and help researchers understand more about this elusive animal and how we can better protect it. \nWhen: 12 September\, 10:30 am \nWhere: Pfeiffer Wines\, 167 Distillery Rd.\, Wahgunyah\, Victoria \nWhat we’ll be doing: \n\nWelcome from our winery host\, Kylie\nAn introductory talk from Anne\, Pfeiffer Wines\, who will talk about the Platypus family that lives nearby and show us her pictures.\nThen\, we’ll talk through the best ways to spot a platypus and how to not get tricked by other creatures;\nWe’ll practise our platy spotting skills with a walk around the area to identify the best platy spotting habitat; and\nWe’ll also net and look at the water bugs (if possible) to see what platypus food is in the area.\nBYO picnic lunch or purchase something from Pfeiffer Wines (check if you need to order a day or more before the event) to enjoy with like-minded people as we watch for platypus.\n\nBYO Picnic Lunch options\nFor those who prefer to have their lunch provided\, the winery can offer:\n– a grazing plate for four [@$30] which includes:\na selection of cheeses with dry biscuits\, olives and cabana.\n– or a Picnic Hamper for two [@$150] which includes:\nHouse Baked Baguette. DESCRIPTION:The new Friends of the Murray River volunteer group will be working with Traditional Owner Group Duduroa Dhargal Aboriginal Corporation at Ryans Lagoon Wetlands on Tuesdays.\nActivities will include tree guard removal\, nestbox monitoring\, fence upgrades and planting. All welcome. \nSupplied: tools and any specific safety equipment needed. \nBring: BYO drinking water. For your safety\, please wear covered shoes (preferably boots)\, long pants\, long sleeves\, and a hat. \nWhere: Ryans Lagoon Wetlands\, Bonegilla \n  \nMeeting places: \nOPTION A: 8.30am in WODONGA. Carpool from the corner of Huon Street and Church Street\, Wodonga. \nOPTION B: 9am at RYANS LAGOON WETLANDS at the Duduroa Dhargal Education Centre. \n  \nPlease register: https://events.humanitix.com/host/friends-of-the-murray-river \nSometimes things change at the last minute and we need to be able to contact volunteers.
