SUMMARY:MONTHLY REPAIR CAFE HASTINGS WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:The Repair Cafe is a place where skilled volunteers fix\, repair and mend household & personal items for reuse or repurpose. This helps pass on special skills and keeps the circular economy going in the community and items out of landfill. We are a not-for-profit community organisation which relies on kind donations from the community to also keep us going. Kids activities and light refreshments are available as part of the Repair Cafe services. We are currently running just one session per month (usually on the third Sunday of each month) at The Hastings Community Hub. We have a great group of volunteers but are also seeking more volunteers to assist in all areas of operating the Repair Cafe (on site and behind the scenes) as our visitor numbers grow. Training provided. Please inquire if interested in helping out or attending one of our next repair sessions – we would love to meet you!

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - 3 huts and a Chalet
DESCRIPTION:This walk of roughly 7km starts and finishes at Wallace’s Hut carpark.  Wallace’s Hut is the oldest surviving cattlemen’s hut\, built in 1889 by the three Wallace brothers – Arthur\, William and Stewart.  We continue past the hut to the aqueduct\, turn right and then follow the grassy aqueduct track past the Rover Scout Chalet. The track here climbs gently to Cope Hut\, which was built by the Ski Club of Victoria in 1929 after the state experienced a surge of skiing in the 1920s. From Cope Hut the walking track follows a heath-filled valley back to the Wallaces Hut track and carpark. \nThe second walk is to Faithfuls Hut\, begins at the Buckety Plains campground.  It’s a short 1.5km return walk that involves a 95m descent/ascent. \n\nGrade 3 Medium\nLeader: Deb\nPhone: 0410047884 before 8pm\nParticipant numbers: Up to 10\nFinal booking date: Friday 8th November\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Ride YACKANDANDAH TO BEECHWORTH 64kms Return
DESCRIPTION:This ride begins in Yackandandah and follows the new bike track to Beechworth with some challenging ups and downs. There is an option to start near the roundabout on the Wodonga/Beechworth Road and thus avoid the uphill from Yack. (But then you won’t get the thrill of freewheeling back to Yack!).\nWe’ll lunch somewhere in Beechworth – maybe a picnic at Lake Sambell or lunch in one of the local cafes – then ride back to Yack and partake of some ‘electrolyte replacement therapy’ at the Star Hotel.\nSuitable for all bike types\, except maybe tricycles! \nPLEASE NOTE: Because I am overseas until November all bookings will need to be done by EMAIL direct to me – iantre@hotmail.com\nMobile phone bookings will not be available so don’t bother trying. \n\n\n\nGrade 3 Medium\nLeader: Ian Trevaskis\nPhone: 0425782983\n\n\nParticipant numbers:10\nFinal booking date: Thursday\, October 31st\nRisks: Other cyclists\, highway crossings\, motor vehicles\, snakes\, inclement weather.\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Munderoo logbook (Carboona Gap) > Lankeys Creek campsite/Hume and Hovell Track
DESCRIPTION:This walk offers a lovely mix of native bush\, expansive views and open grazing country\, and  is a lovely descent (so the H & H website says) of 430m from the Munderoo plateau down to the property “Clear Springs”. The Track goes through native bush and spectacular grass tree stands on Munderoo plateau\, with views to the Murray River and Victoria. It then enters open grazing country\, where it peters out\, but there are marker posts dotted through the paddocks (as long as cows haven’t knocked them down)  to follow. We cross the new bridge over Coppabella Creek and then follow Lankeys Creek through grazed bush to Lankeys Creek campsite\, one of the campsites used on the original expedition. \nI have not done this walk before and it will be my first “real grade 3 walk” after a lengthy time off tracks due to injury.  Please understand that it will not be a fast walk.  A car shuffle is required.  Approx 15km \n\nGrade 3 Medium\nLeader: Deb\nPhone: 0410047884 before 8pm\nParticipant numbers: Up to 10\nFinal booking date: Wednesday 30th October\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au\n\n
