SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Mount Buffalo Chalet to Mackeys Lookout
DESCRIPTION:The plan is to park at the Chalet carpark and commence the walk from there. We will follow the Big Walk Walking track from the Mount Buffalo Chalet down to Mackey’s lookout for lunch. Our descent from the Mount Buffalo Chalet at 1342 elevation to Mackeys Lookout at 920 m elevation will take in some of the best bits of the Big Walk. \nAlong the way\, we can take time to visit the Reeds lookout. This walk is approximately 10 kms return. \nOn our return a look around the Chalet and the Gorge lookout is worthwhile. Bring a cuppa and a snack and an extra jacket to enjoy your cuppa outside. \nPart of the walk (especially after Mackey’s Lookout) is across sloping granite. Good boots are required to prevent slipping. Some of the lookouts have huge drops\, but they are fenced. The track and weather conditions on the day may result in a change to the planned walk. \n\n\n\nGrade 2 Easy-Medium\nLeader: Cindy Pickering\nPhone: 0410425335\nCo-leader: David\nParticipant numbers:10\nFinal booking date: Wednesday 31/08/2022\nKey risks and hazards: Slipping on ice\, cold/wet/windy\nconditions\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Mount Sugarloaf
DESCRIPTION:On David’s Beechworth Hills walk a few years back we noticed an interesting loop on the map that was nearby.  It looked like it might have good views.  It is Mt Sugarloaf and it does.  Mt Sugarloaf is on the northern side of Woolshed road (which heads out to Eldorado). I was COVIDED by my last attempt at this walk so here we go again.\nThe shortest route there is on little used 4wd tracks that climbs through some very pleasant forest.  Some of the walking is steep but never such that your boots scrape your chin.\nThere is a very pleasant lunch spot with great views at the top.\nThe walk is 16km all up. I have not done 2.5 kms of it but it looks pretty straight forward both on the map and looking at it from afar. If it turns out that there is a problem with this part we can turn back and retrace our steps without doing any extra kms. \nPlease ring me to book in. \n\nGrade 3 Medium\nLeader: Bernadette\nPhone: 0419241687\nParticipant numbers:\nFinal booking date: Wed August 24th\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Mt Buffalo snow shoe
DESCRIPTION:Mt Buffalo snow shoe – the Horn and Dicksons falls\nClearly this date may change depending on snow cover at Mt Buffalo.\nThe plan is to park at the old Cresta site\, walk up to the horn\, back down\, then out to Dickson’s falls. I’m guessing it’ll be maybe 12km for the day\, but how far we actually go will be dependant on how easy the walking is. If it’s bad weather\, or the snow is too soft and hard work walking\, we’ll just do as much as feels enough. \nNote that the club has some snow shoes you can hire\, otherwise we can stop in Myrtleford on the way. However you’re responsible for organising your snow shoes e.g. calling ahead to reserve a pair if you need to. \nSimilarly\, I have snow chains for my car but we’ll stop in Myrtleford to get them for the other cars if needed and share the cost between the participants. \n\n\n\nGrade 3 Medium\nLeader: David G\nPhone: 0432 632 142 after 7pm\nSlipping on ice\, cold/wet/windy conditions
