SUMMARY:October Park Explorer – Doctors Point to Noreuil Park
DESCRIPTION:Join Parklands for an adventure on the water! We will be paddling in canoes along the Murray River\, with stops for walk n’ talks! \nThese Park Explorer events are a new monthly series of Ranger-led experiences that will take you off the usual tracks to learn of the work behind the scenes and about the new trails nearing completion.\n\nParklands Albury Wodonga maintains over 176 km of nature trails together with community and partner organisations with no funds directly supporting this.\n\nThe funds raised from our monthly Park Explorer experiences will go towards keeping these trails open and well-maintained including contracting a local disability supported employee business to mow track heads and others to mow in remoter areas.\n\nFor the October event\, participants will meet at the Noreuil Park canoe ramp before being transported to Doctors Point. From here\, you will paddle downstream\, stopping off at sites on Turtle and Browns Islands to check out current works and future plans. You will also learn about the biodiversity conservation achievements over the past two decades in these areas. You will end the tour back at Noreuil Park. \nCost: $50 per person. \nWhen: 9:00 am til around 1:00 pm. \nWhere: Meet at the Noreuil Park canoe ramp. \nWhat is supplied: Canoe hire including life jacket and morning tea. Please advise of any special dietary requirements. \nWhat to bring: Appropriate clothes for canoeing and walking. Please wear a hat and bring some drinking water. \nOther info: There will be no toilets along the route. \nPlease click here to buy your tickets.

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Two walks .... One Mountain
DESCRIPTION:PRIOR TO BOOKING IN FOR EITHER OF THESE 2 WALKS\, IF YOU HAVE NOT WALKED WITH US BEFORE\, YOU WILL NEED TO RING EITHER MICK OR MYSELF.\nThis will be the first time we have been on either of these tracks. They are both well-known and well-marked hikes. Both hikes finish at Mt Buller Summit. We will be doing a car shuffle prior to walking so cars will be waiting for us. When you book\, you will need to say which walk you are booking in for.\nKLINGSPORN BRIDLE TRAIL: is an approx. 7km\, Grade 4 hike and is supposed to be one of the less intense approaches to the summit of Mount Buller. The hike commences from a carpark opposite the Mirimbah Picnic Ground. The track passes\, Thank Christ Corner’ on McLaughlan Shoulder Spur and Burnt Hut Spur. Continuing to climb it passes to the east of the Buller reservoir. From this point\, we will locate the start of the Summit Nature Walk and follow it west towards the prominent summit of Mount Buller. Ascend the trail to the summit. Elevation gain is approx. 1200m \nWEST RIDGE TRACK: is an approx. 7km\, Grade 4/5 hike and traverses the scenic West Ridge of Mt Buller. There may be the option to extend this walk\, but it will depend on group discussion. The hike ascends the dramatic West Ridge\, offering a mix of open Snowgum woodlands and exciting rock scrambles. As you gain elevation\, prepare to be awestruck by unparalleled views unfolding from the summit of Mount Buller. The traditional route begins at the junction of Doughty and Summit Roads. Ascend the West Ridge track\, taking in the scenic surrounds. The path is steep and involves rock scrambles\, so be prepared for a challenging but rewarding climb. Elevation gain is approx. 1300m \nTo save a very early start from Albury on the Saturday I will be staying at The High-Country Holiday Park\, in Mansfield on Friday night. \n\nGrade Option 1 – 4 Option 2 – 5\nLeader: Deb\nPhone: 0410047884 before 8pm\nCo-Leader :- Mick\nPhone : 0437101009\nDistance Option 1 approx 7km Option 2 approx 8km\nParticipant numbers: Up to 10\nFinal booking date: Mon 14/11/2025\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au

SUMMARY:Buffalo plateau wander
DESCRIPTION:The Buffalo plateau in north eastern Victoria is an ‘island in the sky’. It is geographically separated from the high mountains along the Great Dividing Range\, and is a refuge for mountain species\, with Alpine Ash forests\, snow gum woodlands and open frost hollow plains. \nAs part of the Friends of the Earth forests campaigns we host guided walks in the Victorian high country. This trip to the Buffalo plateau will be the first one for summer 2025/26. \nJoin us for a one day wander on the plateau to explore some of the remnant Ash and snow gum forests that survived the intense fires of the 2000s. \nWe will meet at Lake Catani campground at 9am on sunday November 16\, and do two 2 hour walks to explore sections of remnant and recovering forests. \nYou would be welcome to camp with us at Lake Catani on the sunday night and join our collaboration with Protect our Winters on the monday: a tree planting and film night. Details here.

SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Ryders Yard\, Beginners Overnight Hike
DESCRIPTION:This is the perfect walk for those who have yet to experience a night out on the High Plains. The walk is an EASY 6kms to the huts\, all on track and eminently suitable for FIRST TIME overnighters. (Experienced overnighters are more than welcome to join us!) The walk follows the Australian Alps Walking Track from Cope Hut\, passes Cope Saddle Hut and then proceeds along a flat maintenance track beside a viaduct. All up\, it takes about 2 hours of cruisy walking to reach Ryder’s Yards where there are plenty of flat\, grassy spots to pitch tents\, an ample supply of water nearby and a very comfy hut where we can cook meals and socialise. After setting up camp we’ll hike down to the ‘secret’ waterfall and swimming hole where we can cool off\, so bring your bathers (or not!) If you think you may not be properly equipped\, remember you can hire gear from Adventure Gear\, Albury or we can rustle up whatever you might need from other members. I hope as many first timers as possible will take this opportunity to join me for this little adventure. \n\nGrade  2 easy medium\nLeader: Ian Trevaskis\nPhone: 0425782983\nParticipant numbers: 10\nFinal booking date: 17/11\nDistance: 12 km total\nFor more information and updates about BBC activities\, check www.borderbushwalkingclub.com.au
