DESCRIPTION:What: FUNdraiser art auction\, Friends of the Earth Forest Collective \nWhen: Online from mid August and in person Sunday 15th September 2024. 12 noon to 5pm. \nWhere: In person event at Bright Brewery\, 121 Great Alpine Road\, Bright. \nWhy: Australia’s iconic snow gum woodlands and alpine ash communities are under threat from the increased frequency of bush fires. \nLack of live mature trees leads to lack of seed.  No seed means no new seedlings to replace the burnt high country forests. \nUp to 90% of our snow gum forests are under threat right now. \nCome and join us on the 15th of September at the Bright Brewery. \nThere will be live music\, door prizes\, info and merch stalls and gorgeous art works to view and purchase in a fabulous pub atmosphere. \nAll money raised will go towards saving our high country forests. \nMake a weekend of it. \nCan’t make it on the day?  View the art online via Galabid.  The link to the auction site will go live mid August. \n  \nCalling all artists to Help save our Alps. \nPlease donate some artwork to raise much needed funds. \nPaintings\, ceramics\, photography or other media are all welcome. \nWe have drop off locations in Barnawartha\, Ocean Grove\, Castlemaine\, Doncaster\, Strathbogie and the FoE office in Smith Street\, Collingwood (please label the art ‘Forest Collective auction’). \nDo you need your art collected? \nFor more information please contact Sanja :   sanja.vanhuet@foe.org.au

SUMMARY:MONTHLY REPAIR CAFE HASTINGS WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:The Repair Cafe is a place where skilled volunteers fix\, repair and mend household & personal items for reuse or repurpose. This helps pass on special skills and keeps the circular economy going in the community and items out of landfill. We are a not-for-profit community organisation which relies on kind donations from the community to also keep us going. Kids activities and light refreshments are available as part of the Repair Cafe services. We are currently running just one session per month (usually on the third Sunday of each month) at The Hastings Community Hub. We have a great group of volunteers but are also seeking more volunteers to assist in all areas of operating the Repair Cafe (on site and behind the scenes) as our visitor numbers grow. Training provided. Please inquire if interested in helping out or attending one of our next repair sessions – we would love to meet you!
