SUMMARY:Integrated Rabbit Control Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Rabbits are one of Australia’s most significant pest species. They compete directly with our native wildlife\, damage vegetation and impact our agricultural industry – all issues we see in our local area. \nWodonga Urban Landcare Network in partnership with the Victorian Rabbit Action Network is delivering a workshop on ‘Integrated Rabbit Control’ to engage and educate local landholders on this pest species\, and to explore best practice control methods in peri urban landscapes. \nThe workshop will be delivered by expert\, Neil Devanny (Deputy Chair) of the Victorian Rabbit Action Network and will be split into two sessions. \n  \nThe first session is theory based and will focus on: \n\nHistory\, biology\, behaviour\nImpacts on the environment and biodiversity\nProven integrated management\nCollaboration and landscape approach\nImportance of humane and legal practice\n\n  \nThe second session will include a field session for: \n\nIdentifying signs of rabbits (and other possible pest species)\nDemonstration of control techniques such as fumigation\nAssessing management options\n\n  \nIf you are involved in Landcare\, have production land\, a hobby farm\, a block of land with rabbits or if you are interested in learning about what you can do to combat rabbits locally\, this workshop should not be missed! \nPlease register: events.humanitix.com/integrated-rabbit-control-workshop \n  \nThis event is our first in our Partnership Against Pests workshop series ‘Growing capacity against invasives on small blocks’. We will be hosting five more events this year on pigs\, foxes\, woody weeds\, herbaceous weeds and blackberries. \nThe ‘Growing capacity against invasives on small blocks’ project is supported by the Victorian Government through the Partnerships Against Pests program.
