SUMMARY:Climate-Smart Pastures: Native Grass ID & Management
DESCRIPTION:Curious about the native grasses already growing on your property and how they can support productive farming? Join Healthy Hectares for a practical workshop with experienced pasture agronomist Dr Meredith Mitchell and discover the value of native grass pastures in sustainable grazing systems. \nThroughout the day\, you’ll learn how to identify common local native grass species\, understand their benefits for biodiversity\, soil health and drought resilience\, and explore how they can contribute to profitable and productive farming enterprises. You’ll also gain practical management tips covering grazing\, weed control and long-term pasture maintenance. \nThe workshop combines a morning of interactive learning with an afternoon field visit to a local Leneva property\, where participants will put their new identification skills into practice and hear first-hand about native pasture management on-farm. \nWhether you’re a farmer\, landholder\, Landcare member or simply interested in sustainable agriculture\, this is a great opportunity to build practical skills\, connect with others\, and take away knowledge you can apply straight back on your property. \nProudly supported by the Australian Government through the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
