SUMMARY:Border Bushwalking Club - Beechworth Mayday Hills historical walk
DESCRIPTION:This is a repeat of a walk I did late last year as part of the Federation weekend. The walk will take us through the grounds of the former Beechworth Asylum/psychiatric hospital\, Mayday Hills\, where many of the buildings are virtually unchanged in over 100 years. As we go\, I will outline the history of the site and of mental health care in Beechworth\, and tell the stories of staff and patients in a respectful way. I have been researching the history of the site for five years with colleagues from Charles Sturt University.
