The 4th Annual Wetlands Restoration Science Forum 2018 will be held over two days, 16 and 17 August 2018.

BOOK NOW

The theme for the 2018 event is ‘Risks and Drivers of Change in Wetland Management’ – emphasising the major risks and drivers of change which may affect their future management. We plan to take a regional level approach with reviews on the major risks of climate variations, fire, weed, native and pest animals, extreme events and changes to land use and practices from these impacts in the upstream catchment.

Winton Wetlands is developing a research knowledge hub to provide a regular forum for researchers and managers to meet and identify research needs, share information, equipment, facilities, and resources, and to collaborate on research.

Keynote speaker: Dr Lynnette Bettio, senior climatologist from the Bureau of Meteorology

Dr Bettio will speak on climate risks and impacts as well as the data that is available to support wetland restoration.

The program will include:

  • an update on the restoration program onsite, results from a number of research projects conducted at Winton Wetlands
  • opportunity to experience cultural, landscape art installations and ecological aspects of the project during our Lunette Walk
  • workshops on necessary actions to address climate change and our restoration objectives.

  • Professor Peter Gell (Federation University Australia)
  • Simon Casanelia (Goulburn-Broken CMA)
  • Sean Phillipson (East Gippsland CMA)
