@ Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre
Former Greening Australia lead scientist Dr Paul Gibson-Roy will be the guest speaker for this event. Paul will discuss the value of native grasses for pasture, and the importance of restoring local grassland ecosystems for conservation and to improve farmland resilience. He will share his experience in establishing native species in restorations and for cultivated seed crops, and the lessons he’s learned in managing both. Paul is currently Manager of Ecological Restoration at Kalbar Resources.
‘Restoring Grasslands’ is part of Corowa District Landcare’s (CDL) perennial native grass seed project. With funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, CDL is working with Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre to establish a local native grass seed production area and revegetation site in Burrumbuttock. This will serve as a demonstration site for the community to learn about grassland and woodland ecosystems and how they can use perennial native grasses to restore degraded landscapes and build farmland resilience.
